New Brunswick, N.J. (March 30, 2009)  –  Rutgers students Katharine Zeigler and Emily Lamprecht won the Undergraduate and Graduate first place awards, respectively, for their presentations of research posters at the Midatlantic Nutrition Conference in Timonium, Maryland on March 26, 2009.

Ms. Ziegler's poster was entitled "Detection of Metabolic Markers in Young Horses Affected with Osteochondrosis Dessicans." Ms. Lamprecht's was "Effect of Exercise and Superoxide Dismutase on Systemic Antioxidants and Nitric Oxide in Horses." Undergraduates Holly Roessner and Jennifer Zambito and graduate student Nettie Liburt also presented posters that received high praise from the judges.

Sarah Ralston, VMD, Ph.D., dACVN, the Center's Associate Director-Teaching, gave a 50-minute talk, "Feeding the Geriatric and Dentally Challenged Horse." Carey Williams, Ph.D., Center Associate Director-Extension, coordinated (but did not judge) the poster competition.
