Rutgers Equine Science Center and the New Jersey Museum of Agriculture Team Up to Present “All About Horses” Camp
A week-long day camp for children who are new to horse care

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (July 23, 2009) – The New Jersey Museum of Agriculture is pleased to announce its partnership with the Rutgers Equine Science Center for this year’s “All About Horses” camp. An introductory camp for children new to horse care, horse riding, and those interested in horses in general, All About Horses will provide a week of programs, learning, and fun. "This camp is an amazing opportunity to learn about horses and horse care from the Equine Science Center researchers." states Dana Vallely, Museum Director.

The first day of camp features instruction by Dr. Carey Williams, Equine Extension Specialist with the Rutgers Equine Science Center, an approved unit of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. “This is my fourth year helping out with the first day of the summer camp and I enjoy it every year. The kids are so eager to learn all they can, whether it is watching the horse run on the treadmill or learning the parts of the horse, all the students are eager and engaged” says Williams.

Campers will experience two days of grooming and training lessons followed by two days of trail rides and a demonstration of the horse treadmill machine. State law mandates that children must be at least 8 years old to ride on horse trails.

Date: Monday, July 27 – Friday, July 31
Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Age: 8 – 11 years old
Location: New Jersey Agricultural Museum
