TECHNICAL LARGE ANIMAL EMERGENCY RESCUE TRAINING COURSE

SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 27 - 29, 2008 AT USET HEADQUARTERS

A course in Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue Training (TLAER) will be taught by Drs. Tomas and Rebecca Gimenez at United States Equestrian Team (USET) headquarters in Gladstone, NJ, on June 27 – 29, 2008.

The course is specially designed for emergency response community members such as firefighters, rescue squads, police, animal control officers, large animal veterinarians, veterinary technicians, state and county animal response teams, and large animal owners.

Participants will be taught how to safely prepare for and approach incidents such as overturned trailers or livestock haulers; large animals stuck in a swimming pool or tangled in farm equipment; and barn fires. The program also covers incidents where people may be trapped with the animal. Classroom instruction is combined with a variety of audio-visual elements, demonstrations, and hands-on laboratory team work (including live animal handling) for a thorough training regimen.

The fee for the laboratory course is $250 in advance and $300 at the door. Registration is limited to 30 people. For the lectures and demonstrations only, the fee is $100 in advance and $150 at the door.

For further information, or to register, download a registration form available at www.esc.rutgers.edu or contact Nancy Elberty at 908-310-8318 or nelberty@kanduacres.com.
